Artistic friends

FPAC Gallery: Exquisite What?

Spent some time with my friend Ian Henderson in the last week. He does some really beautiful, creepy, organic, small sculpture in metal. He's been working with Clint Fulkerson on a collaborative project to create some amazing sculptures that I had the pleasure to photograph. Ian and Clint have a show at the Fort Point Artist Community Gallery, check it out! Just a note: many of the photos of their work in the links were done by Sue-Yee Leung. Photos below are all me.

Busy boy

A shoot two weekends ago, three last weekend and perhaps one this coming weekend. If I can find time to edit everything I might actually have actual photos to update with soon.

Ladies in Shifts calendar

Been working on an interesting project lately. Photographing various friends in medieval underwear (highly indecent) to be included in a calendar. Photos aren't quite ready for the spotlight yet but I should have them up in a few days. There's rumors of documentation regarding the time period and region the unmentionables come from. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Happy Holidays!

I'm hoping to take some great photos of the festvities over the weekend. Some will likely find there way onto the PhLog. In the mean time. Here's a self portrait (albeit a silly one).

On content, my main camera, and a tri-lobed potato

I've uploaded some more photos to the gallery page. Weddings and stillness have been created. I'll be editing more photos and uploading them in the next week or so.

The main camera I'm using is a Nikon D700. There was a time when the camera really didn't matter as much as the glass (lenses), and the film you bought to go with your gear. But these days a good chip is very important. The newest nikon DSLRs have some really excellent technology. With excellent low light shooting. For example the D700 takes some really lovely photos with very little noise in the shadows at ISOs up to about 1600. HIgher ISOs still have pretty acceptable noise levels. Here's a sample:

This photo was shot at ISO 10,000 (yes... 10,000), the RAW file has been tweaked quite a bit but the noise levels are pretty low considering.

I haven't played around much with any other cameras in the Nikon line but I've been hearing good things in general.

And now for additional weird/goofiness:

We were members of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture, buying produce and in some cases meat direct from farmers) last year and this was one of the more unusual specimens we found. It was delicious!
